Block of the Month

  • Throughout our September to June quilting season, the BBQG features a Block of the Month in our monthly newsletter. For every block that you make and bring to the monthly meeting, you have one chance of winning all the blocks; three blocks, three chances.

    We try to ensure all blocks featured are copyright free and in the public domain. If there is any problem with infringement, please contact us.

  • Check the monthly newsletter for fabric suggestions and details on where to drop off or mail your Block of the Month. Please include your name, phone number and email.

Fabric Draws

  • Members purchase charm squares entitling them to a chance to win one of two beautifully curated fabric prizes (each consisting of .5 of a metre of 3 different fabrics). This draw is a “by subscription” event.

    Option 1: September to June

    For $50, you get a package of 50 charm squares and a total of 50 chances to win one of 2 great fabric prizes in each month from September to June.

    Option 2: September to January

    For $25, you get a package of 25 charm squares and a total of 25 chances to win one of 2 great fabric prizes in each month from September to January.

    Option 3: February to June

    For $25, you get a package of 25 charm squares and a total of 25 chances to win one of 2 great fabric prizes in each month from February to June.

Quilt Show and Sale

  • The BBQG hosts their Quilt Show and Sale every other year. All BBQG members are encouraged to enter their quilts, and to volunteer for the event. The event is open to the public. The Quilt Show is a fantastic way to spread the love of quilting and to showcase our guild members’ work. Come and be inspired by hundreds of beautiful quilts and fabulous shopping.

    This event requires a large amount of planning by the Quilt Show Committee. We encourage members to join this committee as it is a great way to learn about the BBQG and get to know your fellow members. New ideas and thoughts are always welcome.

  • All members are encouraged to participate in the Quilt Show. Please register your quilt and contact us to become a volunteer.

50/50 & Membership Draws

  • 50/50 Draw

    Tickets are available at the monthly meeting for purchase. Funds raised go towards supporting guild outreach programs. The winner is drawn at the end of the meeting. The winner must be present to collect their prize.

    Membership Draw

    The guild holds a membership draw at every monthly meeting. The lucky winner is drawn from the membership list that you sign when you come into the meeting.

  • To participate in our draws, members must be present at the monthly meeting.

Retreats

  • Retreat Policy

    In order to attend a retreat sponsored by the Boundary Bay Quilters Guild, the attendee must be a current member of the BBQG.

    Payment

    Deposit: A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking in order to hold your space.

    Final Payment: Final payment may be made at any time but must be paid no later than 3 months prior to the start of the retreat. Payment may be by personal cheque or e-transfer.

    The Cancellation Policy will change based on the venue but will follow similar guidelines as below:

    Cancellations up to 6 months prior to the retreat will be refunded less the non-refundable deposit.

    Cancellations within six months may be refunded with the following restrictions:

    you can find someone to take your place;

    or the retreat attendee numbers still meet the venue minimum requirement.

    No show — you pay total cost of reserved space.

Workshops

  • General Workshop Information

    You must register for a workshop online through our BBQG webstore.

    To pay electronically on our webstore, select the workshop you are interested in under the Workshops & Sew Days category and add the item to your cart.

    Workshops begin at 10:00am and end at 4:00pm. The doors will be open by 9:30am to enable everyone to set up and be ready to go by 10:00am. Please bring an extension cord and any other items you might need, such as a lamp. Coffee and tea are provided. Depending on the venue lunch may be available for purchase, we will let you know. We have created a policy that whenever we do not have enough members signed up to meet the expenses for one of our workshops, we will open it to other guilds. Members from other guilds are allowed to register for a workshop commencing 45 days prior to the workshop and will be required to pay an additional $10 fee in addition to the workshop fee. The early registration discount will not be applied to non-members.

    Early Registration

    If you sign up for a workshop a month in advance, you will receive a reduced rate – $5.00 off the regular price. It’s a win-win situation — you save $5.00 and the Education Committee can finalize the number of participants in the workshop. Once the deadline has passed, the Guild is contractually committed to pay the instructor no matter the enrolment.

    Workshop Payment and Cancellation Policy

    The BBQG contracts with out-of-town instructors months in advance for the workshops and there is a cost involved. Following is the policy dealing with payment and cancellations of workshop participation:

    In order to reserve a space in a workshop the BBQG requires payment in full upon signup to secure your spot in the workshop.

    If there is a material kit cost associated with the workshop, payment is due on the day of the workshop.

    There will be no refunds for workshops unless the workshop itself is cancelled. Participants may sell (or gift) their space to another member including those on the waitlist. Those on the waitlist are to be given priority.

    Non-members may sign up for BBQG sponsored workshops providing all members on the waitlist have been accommodated. Non-members will pay an additional $10 per workshop and the $5.00 discount does not apply.
